Yesterday I purchased a piece at Kelly’s, the heart shaped stone on a copper necklace. Will the copper assume a petina over time or is it treated to prevent oxidation?
Thank you for your skills and interpretation. I will present it to my wife on the way to Floriday next week; she will cherish the object for its charm!

Hi David!
Thank you so much for your purchase and your kind words. How nice of you to surprise your wife!
You’re right that, in general, copper does assume a patina over time, but your chain (as informed by the supplier) was treated to prevent oxidation. I purchased it as part of a group of copper chains over a year ago, and to date, the one I use and others used by friends and relatives, are still bright and shiny with no patina.
Thanks again and I hope your wife likes her gift. 🙂
